Sain perjantaina varsin mieltäylentävän sähköpostin. Viesti oli Suomen ehkäpä kovimman valokuvauskilpailun, Finnish Photo Awardsin järjestäjiltä ja viestissä onniteltiin minua kahdesta(!) finaalipaikasta kyseissä kilpailussa.
Lähetin kilpailuun kuvia kahdessa eri sarjassa ja kummassakin pääsin kymmenen finalistin joukkoon! Sarjat olivat ”Classical Portrait” ja ”Domesticated Animals”. Koska jury valitsee voittajat tietämättä kenen kuvista on kyse, järjestäjät pyysivät olemaan mainostamatta, millä kuvilla finaaliin on päästy. Sen verran voin kuitenkin kertoa, että klassiseen potretti -sarjaan lähetin kuvia upeista sirkustaiteilijoistani, joita olen hyvinkin kiitollisena päässyt ikuistamaan useampaankin otteeseen. Lemmikit-sarjan finaalikuvastani en voi vielä tässä vaiheessa juurikaan mitään paljastaa.
Voittajat valitaan syyskuun alkupuolella, mutta omalta osaltani kilpailu oli jo nyt suurmenestys ja motivoi jatkamaan valitsemallani tiellä. Edellisten finaalien taso on ollut huima ja tunnistin finalistien joukosta nytkin monta tuttua nimeä, joten tiedän että finaalissa nähdään toinen toistaan upeampia kuvia ja voittokin menee taatusti oikeaan osoitteeseen.
Onnittelut muille finalisteille ja siitä lähdetään, että perfektionistina ja aina eteenpäin pyrkivänä persoonana olen myös ensi vuonna finaalissa mukana – entistä parempien kuvien kera ja vieläkin paremmalla menestyksellä totta kai. 😉
Last Friday I received an email from the organizers of the Finnish Photo Awards 2022 which I think is the highest-level photography contest in Finland. In the email they congratulated me for making it to the finals in two(!) different categories!
I submitted photos into two different categories and one of my photos were selected to be amongst the top ten in both categories. The categories were ”Classical Portrait” and ”Domesticated Animals”. But since the jury will select the winning photos without knowing who took them I was asked not to tell which photos of mine are in the finals. But what I can reveal is that I sent a few portraits of my favorite circus artists and one of them is in the Classical Portrait final. Unfortunately I can’t say anything about the pet photo but I guess people who are familiar with my work will recognize my photo amongst the finalists… 🙂
The winners will be announced in September but I already consider myself a winner as I didn’t expect to get this far – especially in both categories! Getting into the finals will definitely motivate me to continue and improve my work even further. There has lots of breathtaking photos in the finals in the previous years and recognizing some of the names of fellow finalists I’m absolutely sure the competition will be tough and the level of photos will be very high. There will be no bad photos in the finals that’s for sure.
I want to congratulate the other finalists too and wish them luck. As a perfectionist my aim is to be in the finals also in 2023 and obviously improve from this year. 😉
