Olympus E-M5 -kamera
Olympus M.Zuiko 12-40mm f/2.8 PRO
Olympus M.Zuiko 40-150mm f/2.8 PRO
Sigma 56mm f/1.4 DC DN C

Olympuksen 12-40-millisellä taisin yhden tai kaksi kuvaa räpsäistä alueelle saavuttuani ja Sigmaa en ottanut kertaakaan laukusta ulos. Eli kuvista 99.9% tuli useaan otteeseen erinomaiseksi todetun Olympuksen 40-150mm f/2.8:n piirtämänä.

There was a mediaval themed festival called Hämeen keskiaikafestivaali (ie. Häme Medieval Festival) last weekend in Hämeenlinna, Finland. I wasn’t supposed to go there at all but after noticing I had a football match in the same town on Friday evening I decided to take a day off from my main job and instead go and enjoy the festival (by taking photos).

The program seemed interesting but I could only attend a couple of events. My main interest was the tournament by Rohan tallit and I decided to build my own schedule around it.

Even before entering the festival area I was put in the right mood by the music which could be heard one or two blocks away. By the entrance there was even a tent where you could rent appropriate costumes! I loved the idea but since I was there by myself I opted not to rent anything. Maybe next year… 🙂

In addition to the tourney by Rohan Stables I had time to see two or three other events: a few buhurt show fights, a viking war and some Italian buffoons (Il Buffone di Corte). Unfortunately my time was very limited and while I had time to briefly walk around the festival area I had to leave way too soon.

But based on this years event I’m sure I will be back next year!

The gear I opted to take along was:

Olympus E-M5 -kamera
Olympus M.Zuiko 12-40mm f/2.8 PRO
Olympus M.Zuiko 40-150mm f/2.8 PRO
Sigma 56mm f/1.4 DC DN C

I think I took only one or two photos with the shorter, 12-40mm zoom lens and none with the Sigma prime. So once again the Olympus 40-150mm f/2.8 proved to be THE lens for such occasions. Olympus needs to pull something magical if they’re going to top this lens someday. Although… If you ask me, you could add an image stabilizer and somehow still make it a bit lighter but unless they can break the rules of physics I don’t think that’ll happen anytime soon… 😀

Photos from the event (in random order) can be seen below and the whole album can be seen on my Flickr page.
